I recently saw Julie and Julia and I loved it. I have been wanting to try to cook more often I love to cook things that I have never made before. So, I thought I would throw up a post about a few things as I try them. If you try it let me know. If you have a recipe you love also let me know.

Everyone loved this salad....

Quinoa Salad With Apples and Almonds

(I got it from Family Fun Magazine)

1 cup quinoa , rinsed

2 cups water

2 tablespoons honey

1/4 cup lemon juice

1/2 teaspoon coarse salt

3 tablespoons olive oil

1 cup peeled , diced tart apple, such as Granny Smith

1 cup finely chopped celery

1/3 cup golden raisins

1/3 cup finely chopped parsley

1/2 cup coarsely chopped almonds, toasted

Coarse salt and pepper

1 - Cook quinoa then toss and set aside in large bowl to cool.

2 - In a small bowl whisk together the honey, lemon juice, and salt. Gradually whisk in the oil until blended.

3 - Add the apples, celery, raisins, parsley and almonds to the quinoa and toss the ingredients well. Add the dressing and toss once more to coat the salad. Season it with salt and peepper to to taste. Serve at room temperature. Serves 6-8

What is so funny is I did not think you all really read my blog. Thank you for the encouragement to update. There seems to have been a few loose ends from my summer. Yes, I am dating Levi. He is in Pensacola, Florida doing some flight training for the Navy. He is moving to Texas soon to do some more training. I knew him from high school but we were three grades apart. That was just not cool back then. We were friends though and I always thought a lot of him back then. Well this last Dec. he found me on Facebook. (There is a reason for its existence) We are having a lot of fun but long distance is difficult.

I have been keeping busy, but not out of control try to defy logic busy, with school and work. I am taking a Spanish class and I love it. I moved in with Erika and we love our little apartment. She put some beautiful furniture in there and we are living in style. Don't worry we have some priesthood holders living above us from our ward and Laura and Chad are across the street so we have a tool kit close by when we need one.

We had our first immediate Brown family reunion that was not centered around a holiday, except that it was on a holiday.... It was quite a lot of fun and Levi was able to show off quite a bit taking the family on plane rides and, the 100 pointer, water skiing. It was so great

Davis has been so much fun. He is now in school and I went to one of his first soccer practices! He is good. Watch out David Beckham and Joey Worthen.

I have not seen my mom since last August. For anyone that knows us that is crazy long. Well, at the Isagenix convention in Las Vegas we got to reunite. She is looking fabulous and we had a great time together.

Flight acoss America

So, I did it. I flew across America in a 2 seater Russian YAK52 airplane. This plane is made for training and not for long distance flights. It has a lot of power but not a big gas tank. We can fly it for about an hour and a half before we have to fill up again. Levi wanted to have it in Pensacola Florida where he has been picked up for flight school for the Navy, but of course he needed a copilot. I instantly volunteered and what follows is the amazing adventure that we had.

We flew north from Mesa passing over some beautiful dessert. We flew over and a little bit into the meteor crater. See the small visitor building and parking lot in the top right corner of the page?

We flew down into this beautiful canyon called Canyon de Chelly. I felt like Indiana Jones, except I was not being chased by anyone. It is hard to tell you how amazing it was.

I am very aware that these pictures may be boring to you but they display the beautiful country and scenery that we flew over.

I did get to fly the plane at several occasions, mostly when Levi was checking the maps or wanted to take a nap. I got good so he was letting me fly just because. I did land the plane once but did a horrible job taking off. Yes, Levi is able to take over anytime I mess up, which he did have to do on my take off. Ha laughed and said, "People must think we are drunk," because I was swerving down the runway so bad.

We stopped in several little airports. Each stop we were rock stars. People would come up and ask Levi a dozen questions about his unique airplane and ask to look inside of it.

Our favorite airport was Grant-Milan were "Eye Brows" Wes was the airport manager. He loved Levi. He lent us his Jimmy for a courtesy car and had 2 great dogs hanging out with him. We are pretty sure he live at the airport.

One airport was manufacturing little plane called a Cub. We got a tour.

We would stop and get out to fill up, go drive into town to find some food and what ever other exploring we wanted to do.

It was very flat crossing NM, OK and TX. Some of it was farm land and as we flew closer to Florida it was still flat but very green and marshy.

We flew in formation with a guy who also has a YAK52 at the airport in Pensacola. He was so excited that Levi moved there.

On our last day we drove to Mobile and found a beautiful river to canoe on. It was beautiful.

We had a watermelon fight which I won.

However I did not win the king of the boat.

I drove up to Moab for our third annual girls trip last week. We hiked Negro Bill Canyon, camped and rafted the Daily. I loved the hike. Though Moab was burnning hot the hike was because of the trees.

I have moved back to the dusty desert of Arizona. I am so excited to be here with Doug, Brandi, Davis and Erika. Since I have been home however I have been playing a lot with my friend Levi. He is in AZ for a month and is playing hard before we fly his YAK plane to Pensacola FL at the end of the month. He will be in flight school there.

Levi had had me going everyday out doing something wild and fun. I have forgotten all about Hawaii. His whole family is into flying planes. He has taken me out on two rides. The YAK is great for acrobatics which he is very good at.
He says that everyone throws up the first ride.
I held out pretty well as he pulled some hard g's
and flips and turns etc. It was SOOOOOO fun.
Then when we hit the ground I politely excused myself to the restroom and lost my lunch.

This plane is like a kite. I was learning how to taxi down the runway. Its fun.

Hello world, or realisticly those who might happen to read my blog. I have been enjoying it here in Hawaii and want to post some fun pictures of the adventures I have been going on. I have lived here now 3 times and for the first time just last week I visited Kailua. I am more in love with Hawaii now. If I ever move back here I will be moving to either Maui or Kailua. Gorgeous not so crowded white sand beach.
My friend, Corey, from work had not been much outside of Honolulu so we went adventuring. We kiaked to Flat Island and Mots Ilsands. It was tiring and we got so sun burnt but it was a beautiful trip.

I took her to Hanama Bay for her first snorkeling experience. We saw tons of beautiful fish some turtles. She was afraid she was going to be bit by an eel. I am not sure where she got that idea. I don't think there are any there.

Hello!

I set up my blogg when I first got to Hawaii and then never invited anyone to look at it. So, there is old news on there.

As for new news:

I still live in Hawaii. I had a wonderful Thanksgiving thanks to the Becky and Wayne Hammond family. Lucky for me they were out here for vacation. We spent a wonderful day on Hukilau Beach (you might remember the song we used to sing, "oh we are going to a Hukilau..." Does anyone know who taught us that? I would guess grandma). Wayne slept in a hammock and some of us explored Goat Island which is one of my favorite little secrets on the island. If you visit me here your almost guaranteed a tour of it from me. We played in the waves most of the rest of the day.

Romances: I am dating or kind of dating a guy who lives in Korea. He is not Korean. He is just there learning Korean. He is a Cryptologist something or other for the military. I met him here in the branch. After Korea he moves to California. So, that is why I say kind of dating. We talk everyday so....
He is great though.

I sell cell phones people so if you ever want to sign up with T-Mobile let me know. I am a big fan of this company. I have been with them for a long time and now that I work for them I am finding more and more reasons to love them.

While most of you are suffering the cold weather I am going to hit the beach. I spend most every afternoon that I have off at Waikiki beach playing volleyball. I meet all kinds of people. People who moved to Hawaii or are visiting from Norway to Australia to Canada. Its great.

Whoever is in charge of the next family reunion, I vote we have it here. :)

Hello all. So, though I have fully explored other technical communication services like MySpace, Facebook and even LDSLinkUp, I have never blogged. I am excited to see most of my family into it especially the Hammonds. My question is, where is Trina and John, and Sherrie and Neal and of course Nick and girl who is going to join family in about 3 years? They need to Blogg too.

I would like to give a brief update of my goings on. I finished my associates degree from UVSC last fall. I moved from beautiful downtown SLC to beautiful East Millcreek (I was in Neal and Sherrie's neighborhood). In the middle of that move I took a little trip to visit mom in Indiana and Spence in Chicago for over a month. My mom was campaigning to have me move there. Though I love them both and that part of the country I did not move there. I choose to live in Hawaii.

Two days ago I landed in Honolulu. Oh boy it great to be here. I am living with a friend until I find a place. I at least have a job lined up. My friend Aaron Waldrip, some of you may remember him from stories that Amber and Ericka tell about their trip to Guatemala, got me a job with T-Mobile. He is really tall by the way, 6.10! I am excited to work for them esspcially because I will get to get a new phone and one other that I will be giving to my mom, or the highest bidder.

I did not close down Options Clothing. We did have a big clearance and you can still get great deals if you like. Let me know. By the way thank you for all those who have supported me and my mom in that venture. I am not sure what is next for that business.

Well, please know that now that I live in HI, yes, you have a place to stay. So, come and visit. If I end up getting another job with an airline I will go on tour to visit you family in, San Fran, Oakland, Seattle, Phoenix, Chicago, Salt Lake City and New York and my dad in Maryland. We just need someone to move to Miami Beach and we are set.
